God made the original world order good; man destroyed that order by following Satan instead of God. Christ comes to restore that original order and to elevate it beyond our expectations through His Incarnation which begins through the purity of Mary’s Immaculate Heart and her “yes” to the Word of God. She is the example for each of us as disciples of Jesus in saying “yes” to the will of God. She is even more our mother and intercessor by assisting us in saying “Yes,” with the gift of God’s grace, which only she enjoys fully.

It is the Immaculate and purely loving Heart of Mary in her willing obedience that places her as the preeminent human advocate for every human person throughout history especially for those who are most overlooked and ignored by the powerful of this world. The purity of her heart shows in her example the obedient willingness of the disciple of Jesus whose trust defies the impossibilities that oppress us with despair and threaten us with isolation and fear as caused by sin and its effects. The Immaculate Heart of Mary is replete with gratitude for Jesus and is itself compassionate for and sensitive to those so in need of Jesus’ mission of God’s mercy and for those most harmed and vulnerable to the effects of sin — effects that include destruction of the family, war among nations, oppressive poverty, and the tyrannical indifference of the powerful of this world to human beings.

As the Catechism of the Catholic Church teaches, “The priority of the family over society and over the State must be affirmed. The family in fact, at least in its procreative function, is the condition itself for their existence. With regard to other functions that benefit each of its members, it proceeds in importance and value the functions that society and the State are called to perform. The family possesses inviolable rights and finds its legitimization in human nature and not in being recognized by the State. The family, then, does not exist for society or the State, but society and the state exist for the family.”

Without the centrality of God’s Incarnate Word, the integrity of natural marriage is destroyed, then without natural marriage the family is destroyed with its responsibilities being foisted upon the state; and without the family, the integrity of nations and their sound borders collapse and give way to the tyranny of war and social unrest culminating in the domination and subjugation by the powerful over every human being.

We consecrate Russia and Ukraine today along with our own hearts and souls to the Immaculate Heart of Mary because Her heart, unlike those of Eve and Adam, is purely and obediently centered upon the Word of God, the Word Incarnate, Her Son Jesus Christ. Without our complete devotion to the Word Incarnate, Jesus Christ, with His central place in our hearts and souls, something else will usurp His throne. Peace between Russia and Ukraine, peace among all nations, and end to war and the injustice of oppressive poverty will not be achieved by any new secular and global order that usurps the rightful and central place of Christ in human hearts and His eternal and just order established beginning with Mary’s words, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.”
